This slightly macabre letter opener once belonged to Charles Dickens. Inscribed on the blade are the words, ‘C.D. In Memory of Bob 1862.’ Bob was Dickens’ pet cat, and it is his paw which forms the handle of the letter opener.
On display at the New York Public Library.
